         IF/SI- Rudyard Kipling

 IF you can keep
your head
when all about you
Are losing theirs and
blaming it on you.

IF you can trust
yourself when
all men doubt you,
But make allowance
for their doubting too
(...)

SI puedes mantener
la cabeza en su sitio
cuando todos a tu alrededor
la pierden
y te culpan a ti.

SI puedes confiar
en ti mismo
cuando todos dudan de ti
pero también dejas lugar
para sus dudas
(...)

The Poetry of Color by Jairo Carthy

"Poetry and painting have always been sisters, speaking different languages to convey the same truth. While Rudyard Kipling sculpted a monument to human fortitude with words in his poem "If," the art of Claudia Patricia López Osornio seeks to capture that same essence through
color, form, and texture.

Why unite these two disciplines in a single book? Because a modern painting is not just an image; it is a visual response to Kipling's "If." Where the poet speaks of keeping one's head, the artist finds balance in composition. Where the verse speaks of rebuilding with worn-out tools, the painting reveals the beauty of matter-the relief and the layering of pigments that narrate a story of strength.

In this book, the poem ceases to be a static text and becomes an atmosphere. The works presented here do not merely illustrate the poem; they inhabit it. They are the reflection of that "unforgiving minute" which the artist has managed to fill with sixty seconds of pure creation".

Excerpt from the prologue.

WANTING

To the survivors of the Holocaust

I have dreamed of you so much
in these days
of stew and bread.
I have dreamed of you so much
with the frost and the famine
with the chains lacerating the ankles
with the terror
installed in the hut.
I have dreamed of you so much
FREEDOM.
